Polly Joke to Holywell Bay
Approx 3 hours leisurely walk along the coastpath. Park in the car park above the Bowgie Inn ( pay and display ) Walk down from the car-park past the Gramophone workshop on the left and turn left as you meet the road to join the footpath through the stile gate approx 100 yards ahead.
Walk another 100 yards and take a moment to look right at the spectacular views across crantock beach to pentire headland. Choose to go straight ahead for a longer walk out to the headland between crantock and polly joke, before bearing left and following the cliff path, or left down through two fields. Both routes bringing you to Polly joke beach. One of our favourites and Dog Friendly !
As you reach the beach, cross the stone bridge which straddles the stream. A good place to give your dog a drink in the stream if you have taken them with you! Choose to either: skip the beach and follow the coast path up over the fields to the left. The path is well worn so will be easy to follow or: If the tide is out you can walk down and enjoy the beach, and rejoin the footpath to the left closer to the low tide mark. As you leave Polly joke, you will climb up to the headland on the westerly side of the beach and skirt the cliffs as you look
west towards Holywell Bay.
Be careful to keep your Dog on a lead as there are often Sheep or Cattle grazing in the fields! The cliff path will meander around the cut outs of coastal erosion for about half a mile and then gently drop down into the dunes backing onto Holywell bay. You can choose to access the Beach, amble through the dunes or a bit of both!
If you are you ready for a rest or some refreshments then cross the beach and follow the stream up the far westerly side, crossing the bridge and follow the path to the St Pirans Inn ( Dogs welcome but only open during the summer months ! )
